SBIRT Training for North Carolina Health Providers (CenterPoint)

This program provides an introduction to screening, assessment, and brief intervention for substance use disorders, with a focus on alcohol and tobacco use. The courses discuss the basic clinical behavioral intervention steps for helping patients quit substance use by describing the stages of change. You will learn how to utilize motivational interviewing techniques, choose appropriate treatment plans for different patients, treat withdrawal, prevent relapse, and when and how to refer patients to specialty treatment. Clinical case studies are presented in each course to demonstrate the therapeutic techniques. Physicians can earn up to 5.75 AMA PRA Category I Credits ™.
